Sanilac County Jail Renovation and Addition
· Steel Cell of North America provided 36 modular steel cells that were delivered and installed by Pauly Jail Building Company’s 5-man crew in 7 hours! This project certainly highlights the schedule advantages over conventional masonry cells, wall panels or precast cells.
· The 19,000 square foot two-story addition, containing 68 prisoner beds, booking area, vehicle sallyport, lobby with inmate video visitation stations and administrative offices will take about a year to complete. Phase two will follow, with renovations to the existing jail including conversion of the 52- man dormitory-style cell No. 8 on the second story into 11 maximum security cells and a 17- bed minimum security dormitory. Remodeling on the first floor will include new detectives’ offices, training and classroom area and physical training room for staff. The project will increase the number of inmate beds from 119 to 165.
